11/23/2025

As part of its humanitarian and development interventions in Afghanistan, and with funding from Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched an agriculture support project to improve the living standards of families affected by natural disasters.

The project is implemented in partnership with the Afghan Welfare Society and in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock; local authorities; and target communities.

Under the $423,883 project, agricultural supply kits will be distributed to 2,000 families in four districts of Logar Province (500 families each).

Each family is receiving 50 kg of improved wheat seeds, 50 kg of urea fertilizers, and 50 kg of phosphate fertilizers.

Also, the project involves agricultural extension and farmer education programs for the beneficiaries on the best pest control practices and wheat crop management.

A launching ceremony was held in Kharwar District, attended by the district chief, representatives of competent government authorities, community leaders, and the project's team from QRCS's representation office in Afghanistan.

Over two days, agricultural supplies were distributed to 500 farmer families in Kharwar. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the State of Qatar, QFFD, and QRCS for this assistance, which would upgrade agricultural activities, enhance food security for the population, and improve the living standards of families in need and victims of natural disasters.
