This year's celebration presented gifts to 60 children with different health problems, in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar Institute for Speech and Hearing (QISH), and Tamakun Comprehensive School, which selected the beneficiaries. The ceremony was opened with recitation of some part of the Qur'an. Then, The floor was given to QRCS Director-General, Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Naimi, who welcomed the parents and children, wished them quick recovery, and showed appreciation of the support of parents to their ill children. "Social Development is one of QRCS's major departments working to serve the Qatari society by helping the vulnerable. Supporting patients is a main concern for the department, as an effective way to help them recover and withstand their health challenges," he added. According to Mr. Al-Naimi, "This Is My Wish" was launched in 2007 as a psychological support program targeted at ill children. "Held annually during Ramadan, this initiative has far-reaching implications, making the small dreams of young patients come true". Executive Director of Community Affairs and Patient Engagement at Hamad General Hospital (HGH), Ms. Maitha S. Al-Bouainain, stated, "It is my pleasure to be here at QRCS, which is leading in this kind of activities that spread happiness among children and their families. May they be rewarded well for their hospitality". "We at HMC are open to everyone, under our community partnership strategy. We are willing to work with any partners for the best interest of society as a whole," she pointed out. During the ceremony, gifts were distributed to the ill children, some mothers were honored for standing by their ill children despite difficulties, and funny games were held to amuse the children.
