QRCS explores further humanitarian cooperation with Niger Ambassador

7/6/2021

Ali bin Hassan Al-Hammadi, Secretary-General of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), has met H.E. Hassan Mubarak Boubacar, Ambassador of the Republic of Niger to Qatar. The meeting was attended by Faisal Mohamed Al-Emadi, Executive Director of Relief and International Development Division. Mr. Boubacar communicated to QRCS the greetings and thanks of government officials and beneficiaries in Niger for its extensive efforts over the past few years. They discussed the achievements of QRCS’s regional office in Niger, as well as the suffering of 600,000 Nigerian and Malian refugees currently hosted by the country. Their basic needs include water, food, medications, and in-kind items. As stressed by the meeting, the displacement phenomenon involves numerous challenges, whether for receiving the refugees or returning them to their home villages. Mr. Al-Hammadi said QRCS paid great attention to Africa, both in terms of humanitarian action and diplomacy. He had already visited National Societies in many African countries. Both sides agreed to work together on a draft a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between QRCS and the Red Cross Society of Niger, in order to continue to implement joint humanitarian operations and pursue stability and development.
