Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has taken part in the 4th Qatar Patient Safety Week, with a wide range of health education activities at its health facilities and other national events. Over a week, each Workers' Health Center set up two health education booths, one for doctors and nurses and the other for technicians. Other activities included health education lectures, role play, poster design contests, and quiz bowls. The competitions were received enthusiastically by the visitors of the three Workers' Health Centers, which are managed and operated by QRCS under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH). QRCS also contributed to the Public Awareness Day organized by MOPH at Qatar National Library (QNL), which involved a panel discussion and exhibition. In the conference held by Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute (HHQI) over two days at Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, two QRCS medical personnel participated in a workshop on "Fundamentals of Patient Safety". Dr. Hassan Ali Qassim, General Medical Director of Medical Affairs Division, QRCS, emphasized safety as key to patient care and a fundamental component of quality assurance, optimized performance, environmental safety & risk management. "This year, we focused on a number of health-related issues such as community education, first aid, handwashing, diabetes, smoking, good dietary habits, exercising, and vaccination against communicable diseases.
