Phase 2 of QRCS Promote Benevolence initiative widely welcomed

2/14/2021

The Promote Benevolence initiative, launched by Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) late in January, has attracted public attention for its benevolent implications that raise a sense of responsibility towards those in need. Social media messages went viral showing the numerous social, relief, development, health, and other operations conducted by QRCS for the vulnerable everywhere. There remains an underlying principle to emphasize: QRCS is an intermediate link between service-seekers and service-contributors. With the initiative, this principle integrates a third active player, that is, the service-promoters. Laudably, many humanitarian, social, and media influencers have recently supported the initiative. Khadija Benguenna, the famous Al-Jazeera channel journalist, spoke out in support of the initiative. “Sometimes, we become too busy to observe our priorities, which maybe small but still important, so we need to be reminded of them” said Ms. Benguenna. “This is the very message of QRCS’s Promote Benevolence initiative, which is to represent humanitarianism. I am a member of the Promote Benevolent initiative”. Mohamed Rashid Al-Marri, Director of Communication and Public Relations at QRCS, stated, “Since its launch, the initiative has been welcomed by people of all walks of life. It is inspired by QRCS’s values, the seven Fundamental Principles, and, above all, the cultural and religious legacy of Qatar, which has always been there for the distressed and the needy. It is the duty of everyone to promote charity and help whoever in need”. The purpose of the initiative, Mr. Al-Marri said, was to bolster the concept of partnership and to complement the loop of humanitarian action, by engaging those who can advocate the message of benevolence. “The efforts of the initiative’s launchers, supporters, promoters, and beneficiaries combined together to translate into such an impressive public interaction,” he added. Mr. Al-Marri called upon everyone to join the initiative, by texting their names to the WhatsApp number 30032040. Then, they can share the hashtag #PromoteBenevolence via their social media accounts, to take part in such a noble endeavor.
