QRCS signs charity funding agreement with LuLu Hypermarket - Qatar

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with LuLu Hypermarket – Qatar to work together on mobilizing community support for QRCS’s charitable and humanitarian operations, both locally and internationally. Under License No. 90/2019 by Qatar's Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA), the MoU was signed by Shaijan M. O., Regional Director of LuLu Hypermarket, and Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Maliki, Executive Director of QRCS. The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Shanavas P. M., Regional Manager, Mr. Muhammed Basheer, General Manager – Hypermarket Operations, and Mr. M. Rasheed Al-Hashimi, Hypermarket Manager. QRCS’s Director of Communications, Abdullah Al-Mulla, Director of Resource Mobilization, and Head of Social Care, Najat Al-Haidous, were also present. In his remarks, Mr. Al-Maliki said, “We in QRCS appreciate community partnership, which is key to our mission of Saving Lives and Preserving Dignity. It is a major resource for our beloved country towards the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030”. He valued the noble strategy of LuLu Hypermarket, which reflected their belief in corporate social responsibility (CSR), by contributing to the welfare of Qatari community and other societies around the world. Mr. Shaijan stated, “We are interested in charity and social initiatives in Qatar. It is an opportunity to capitalize on the business sector to support vulnerable groups, through a credible humanitarian organization like QRCS”. As per the one-year MoU, LuLu Hypermarket’s customers shall be allowed to donate in riyal fractions upon paying the purchase bills at LuLu Hypermarket branches in Qatar. These funds shall be directed to QRCS’s social and charity projects for the benefit of vulnerable families. The company will also promote QRCS’s campaigns through the public promotion monitors at its branches. It will work with its suppliers to raise more funds for charity, in pursuit of the principle of CSR.
