Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has been visited by a high-profile delegation from the Republic of Mali, who are in Doha to attend the 140th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The delegation comprised H.E. Issaka Sidibé, President of the National Assembly of Mali, Modibo Sidibé, Secretary-General of the National Assembly of Mali, and H.E. Cheick Ahmed Tidiany Diakite, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Mali to Qatar. They were received by Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Maliki, Chief Executive Director of QRCS, Abdullah Hamed Al-Mulla, Director of Communication, Mona Fadhel Al-Sulaiti, Head of Local Development, and Naglaa Al-Haj, Head of Rehabilitation and International Development. The guests appreciated the humanitarian efforts by the State of Qatar and QRCS over the years. They gave an overview of the humanitarian situation in Mali, as well as the multiple needs of the northern and central parts of the country, particularly during the coming holy month of Ramadan. “We at QRCS hold a great responsibility for serving humanity everywhere. This is our duty towards the needy in Mali and worldwide,” said Mr. Al-Maliki. “Africa is a main focus for us, as it needs huge interventions to address its humanitarian problems. We work in several African countries, based on real needs and available resources”. Ms. Al-Haj revealed plans to establish a regional representation office for QRCS in Bamako, to supervise operations in Mali, Mauritania, Chad, and Central African Republic. “We are working closely with Mali Red Cross and Mali’s Ministry of Social Affairs,” she added. Mr. Sidibé welcomed this initiative by QRCS and promised to offer every possible support. “All QRCS leaders are invited to attend the opening ceremony. It is a good opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties, inspired by the good relations between Qatar and Mali,” he stated.
