QRCS Marks National Sports Day with Public Events in Doha, Al-Khor

February 14th, 2016 ― Doha: Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) has shared all society individuals and institutions the celebrations of the National Sports Day, which comes every year on the second Tuesday of February. 40 Ambulances, 145 Medics to Cover Event Locations February 14th, 2016 ― Doha: Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) has shared all society individuals and institutions the celebrations of the National Sports Day, which comes every year on the second Tuesday of February. A special section was set up at Katara Cultural Village to hold diverse sports, recreational, and informative activities as well as offer medical services for free for the visitors of different ages and walks of life. With support from Olympic Sports, all events commenced at 6:30 a.m. in a funny atmosphere, which encouraged all visitors to engage in sports matches and activities designed for all family members. Many QRCS officials, staff, and volunteers took part in the events, including the Secretary-General, Ali Hassan Al-Hammadi, Executive Director, Youssef Ahmed Al-Hammadi, Director of Human Resources and Administrative Services, Nayef Faisal Al-Mohannadi, and Director of Communications, Issa Mohamed Al Ishaq. QRCS's section saw many activities, including information for the visitors about QRCS's humanitarian mission and the value of volunteerism, as well as sports activities for adults and children such as exercising, football, volleyball, tennis, running, and other games.   As usual in all events inside Qatar, QRCS's medical services actively participated in the celebrations. At both Katara and the Diplomatic Club, QRCS medical officers received the visitors, distributed health awareness publications, trained them about first aid and CPR, performed blood sugar/pressure tests for free, and medically covered the areas with ambulance vehicles and bicycles. In parallel, QRCS's branch in Al-Khor made several health and sports activities at Al-Khor Sports Club, in cooperation with Qatar Guest Center. A QRCS fleet of 40 ambulances, 130 paramedics, and 15 doctors were dispatched around the different locations of events throughout the day to take care of the public and intervene in emergencies. Locations included the Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif, the Diplomatic Club, the corniche area, Aspire Zone, the Pearl, and Al-Khor.
