QRCS Takes Part in MME Drive for Shepherds

February 21st, 2017 ― Doha: Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) has taken part in 'Our Shepherds", a campaign launched by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) to improve the living conditions of the livestock breeders. QRCS Takes Part in MME Drive for Shepherds February 21st, 2017 ― Doha: Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) has taken part in 'Our Shepherds", a campaign launched by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) to improve the living conditions of the livestock breeders. Besides QRCS, the campaign also involves Qatar Charity (QC), Sheikh Thani bin Abdulla for Humanitarian Services (RAF), and Eid Charity. During the second week of the campaign, QRCS held an all-day health education event for shepherds and workers in Al-Khor. The event was attended by representatives of MME, QRCS doctors and representatives, and 140 shepherds and farm guards. The activities of the day included a lecture on healthy lifestyles, good diet, prevention of communicable diseases, avoidance of bad habits like smoking, and importance of personal hygiene. The attendance also received first-aid training, blood sugar and pressure tests, dates, meals, winterization bags, hygiene kits, and environmental/health awareness printouts. A QRCS ambulance vehicle was stationed at the event venue throughout the day for prompt action in case of emergency. In a statement, the representative of MME said the event attracted 140 shepherds and workers, who benefited from the diverse environmental and health activities held by QRCS. QRCS thanked MME for engaging humanitarian organizations and charities in this drive to reach out to as many farm shepherds as possible. Reporters from Al-Jazeera and Qatar TV were present to cover the events and interview the beneficiaries. In the same vein, QRCS's medics provided health education during the earlier events by RAF in Umm Al-Amad, Eid Charity in Simaisma, and QC in Shahaniya.
