Since the beginning of Ramadan, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) volunteers have been working hard to implement the Ramadan campaign, with several Ramadan Iftar activities at a total cost of QR 240,500, as well as active participation in other QRCS events and programs. For the fifth consecutive year, QRCS Volunteers Division conducts a Ramadan Iftar program for municipality workers at the Industrial Area, which involves distributing 300 Iftar meals per day (9,000 meals in total throughout the holy month of Ramadan), in partnership with The Ritz Carlton Hotel and New Special Kitchen. A total of 10,000 water bottles donated by DoubleTree Hotel and 400 kg of dates donated by Doha Dates are distributed throughout the month. As such, these distributions are estimated to benefit more than 9,000 cleaning and road workers. Also, QRCS volunteers distribute water bottles and dates to the visitors of the Grand Mosque during Iftar time, in cooperation with DoubleTree Hotel. In addition, the volunteers take part in the organization of events and programs by other QRCS departments, such as 'This Is My Wish' to fulfill the wishes of ill children, 'Recite and Ascend' to honor the students who memorize the Glorious Quran, 'Outstanding Students' to honor the students with high academic achievements, to just name a few. "For the fifth year in a row, thousands of Doha municipality workers receive healthy food from QRCS. It is a noble humanitarian message that embodies the spirit of solidarity in the Qatari society and reflects QRCS's slogan of 'Saving Lives and Preserving Dignity'," commented QRCS Executive Director, Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Naimi. Mr. Al-Naimi highly appreciated the initiative by The Ritz Carlton (QRCS's hospitality partner), DoubleTree Hotel, and New Special Kitchen to sponsor the program. He wished such partnerships to keep going on, as they have a good impact on all segments of society. The Executive Director commended the good spirit and great efforts of QRCS volunteers to contribute to the Ramadan campaign. "We are proud of our volunteers who do their best in benevolence, help of others, and deepening of brotherly and human bonds with vulnerable groups. So, they deserve our encouragement and hail for the great reward of their good deeds in the holy month of Ramadan," Mr. Al-Naimi concluded.
