On the sidelines of the launch, Issa Al Ishaq, Director of QRCS Communications, welcomed the guests of the event, which was aimed at urging the youth to get closer to their old family members, through gifts and other creative ideas to promote the notion on social media. "Established in 1978 as the first volunteering organization in Qatar, QRCS is the pioneer of voluntary work in the country. Over the years, it remained leading in this respect, attracting aware and enthusiastic youths to strengthen their energetic spirit in favor of society, especially the elderly," he said. Ms. Al-Hamadi expressed her happiness for participating in this positive campaign for the elderly, with a view to putting a smile on their faces through simple initiatives that give them a pleasant time. She added, "Over the short period of campaign, I hope we will be able to reach out to as many old people as possible. All those interested in such campaigns are also invited to cooperate with us, by promoting the hashtag over social media". On Tuesday, the campaign's team will visit a number of private Majlis gatherings in different parts of Doha and Al-Wakrah, to listen to their experiences, know about the lessons learnt from their long lives, and discover the kinds of social and family relations of their time. On the following day, gifts will be distributed to old workers at Souq Waqif, in a cordial gesture to enliven their feelings of affinity and belongingness. After that, a group of volunteers will visit the Majlis Al-Dama at Souq Waqif to hold amusing activities and games with old people there. Finally, a closing ceremony will be held at Sharq Village & Spa to honor a number of old people who contributed to the development of the country.
