In a press briefing, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced today the launch of its annual Ramadan campaign for the year 1437 A.H., with QR 96 million worth of projects during and beyond Ramadan in Qatar and 15 other countries. The press conference was attended by QRCS Secretary-General, Saleh bin Ali Al-Mohannadi, Head of Resource Mobilization, Ahmed Ali Al-Khulaifi, social and public media representatives, and QRCS officials and volunteers. Mr. Al-Mohannadi sent his best wishes to H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar, the Qatari people, and the whole Muslim nation for the coming of the holy month of Ramadan. "As usual every year, QRCS is launching a Ramadan campaign, which involves Ramadan projects at a cost of QR 11 million and year-round projects valued at QR 85 million. These cover shelter, health care, food and nonfood aid, water and sanitation, education, family support, and health and social awareness," said Mr. Al-Mohannadi. The target projects are as follows: (1) Local Ramadan projects including 'Ramadan Iftar', 'Eid clothing', 'This Is My Wish', 'Recite and Ascend', etc. (QR 3,117,000); (2) International Ramadan Iftar and food package distributions for 126,130 families in Syria, Lebanon (Syrian and Palestinian refugees), Palestine, Jerusalem, Jordan, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia, Niger, Chad, Central African Republic, and Ethiopia (QR 7,839,000); (3) Local health, social, rehabilitation, and development projects (QR 33 million); and (4) International year-round projects and programs in 15 countries (QR 51,500,000).
