Turkish Ambassador strengthens relations with QRCS

H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Thamer Al Thani, President of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), has met the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the State of Qatar, H.E. Dr. Mehmet Mustafa Göksu. The visit was attended by Ali bin Hassan Al-Hammadi, Secretary-General of QRCS, Eng. Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Maliki, Chief Executive Director, Dr. Fawzi Oussedik, Head of International Relations and International Humanitarian Law, and Adel Al-Baker, Director of the Office of the President. The meeting discussed the results of the recent visit of QRCS’s delegation to Turkey, aimed at enhancing relations with the Turkish Red Crescent, as well as arranging for the joint campaign for Sudan, in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic and the flash floods. Sheikh Abdullah bin Thamer Al Thani emphasized the extraordinary friendship between QRCS and the Turkish Red Crescent, as a manifestation of the historic relations between the two countries. He described the bilateral ties of the two governments and peoples as a “longstanding love”. He wished that these ties would be deep-rooted in the history of the two sides. Dr. Göksu communicated to QRCS leaders the greetings of Dr. Ibrahim Altan, Director-General of the Turkish Red Crescent. He referred to the importance of this visit in adding value to the good relations between the two sides for the sake of humanity. Mr. Al-Hammadi said he looked forward to stepping up the cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent. They talked about several topics of relevance, including humanitarian cooperation in supporting the education sector in Syria and many African countries, student scholarships at the University of Qatar, and the use of technology in the field of humanitarian action.
