QRCS Delivers Services to 980 Beneficiaries in Al-Shamal

May 14th, 2017 ― Doha: During April 2017, Qatar Red Crescent's (QRCS) branch in Al-Khor held lectures and courses at schools, youth centers, and the branch, for the benefit of 410 students, 70 ladies, and more than 500 visitors at the Librtha Maritime Festival. QRCS Delivers Services to 980 Beneficiaries in Al-Shamal May 14th, 2017 ― Doha: During April 2017, Qatar Red Crescent's (QRCS) branch in Al-Khor held lectures and courses at schools, youth centers, and the branch, for the benefit of 410 students, 70 ladies, and more than 500 visitors at the Librtha Maritime Festival. Marking World Oral Health Day, the branch held oral health lectures at Al-Khor Model Kindergarten for Boys and Al-Thakhira Model Independent School for Boys. In the two sessions, the attendance were taught about the oral health, how to prevent cavity, the correct use of toothbrush and toothpaste, and the importance of healthy food. A third lecture on obesity and nutrition was given to the students of Abdullah bin Ali Al-Misnad Independent School. QRCS's trainer explained what a balanced diet, the importance of vegetables and fruits, and the negative impact of junk food. At the same school, a first aid lecture focused on how to control nosebleed and other bleeds, the right way of handling a fracture/injury, and the measure to take in cases of asthma or suffocation. In relation to community awareness, QRCS coordinated with the Daawa and Religious Guidance Department to deliver a lecture on responsible behavior, and another lecture on volunteering and helping others. A trainer from QRCS delivered a lecture for grade-5 students of Al-Khor Primary School for Girls about the changes of physiological and mental growth, as well as how to cope with these changes. Girls from Al-Thakhira Girls Forum were also present. The same lecture was held at Al-Thakhira School for Girls. The branch provided two ambulances, medical staff, and life guards to cover the Librtha Maritime Festival, a four-day event held by Al-Thakhira Youth Center, under the auspices of H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. In cooperation with Al-Khor Girls Center, the branch hosted a lecture by Sheikh Khaled Al-Khiliwi for housewives about a happy family.
