QRCS donates computers for Communicable Disease Center patients

3/9/2019

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has donated a digital library to Hamad Medical Corporation's (HMC) Communicable Disease Center, as part of its socio-psychological support program, which is designed to boost their morale and help them respond well to treatment. The new library consists of seven laptops with all supplements, including educational and informative material in various fields of knowledge, for the benefit of the in-patients. This is the sixth in a series of similar donations starting from 2010, with a total of 42 computers, given to the Pediatric Emergency Center, Fahad Bin Jassim Kidney Center, Mental Health Service, and other HMC medical facilities. Ibrahim A. Al-Maliki, Executive Director of QRCS, stated, "Vulnerable groups are our top priority, including the patients who receive treatment at hospitals. Those need special care from society, particularly NGOs and charities". "Actually, QRCS has the lead in this respect. A series of digital libraries have already been inaugurated at HMC, to make the patients feel better, educate them on their specific cases, and explain to them the procedure of treatment and preventive practices. These laptops will be available 24/7 to serve the patients," said Mr. Al-Maliki. He promised to keep on the initiative of providing HMC facilities with digital libraries, in pursuit of a stronger bilateral partnership in medical, awareness, and social activities. “We work closely with the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) to improve community health standards, towards the human development goals of Qatar National Vision 2030,” he added.
