Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has provided a new batch of iPads for the digital library donated to Hamad Medical Corporation's (HMC) Communicable Disease Center a few months ago, under the Patient Support Fund. The new donation was handed over to Ibrahim Marhoun, Head of Social Services at the Communicable Disease Center, during his visit to QRCS’s headquarters this morning. He was received by Mona Fadhel Al-Sulaiti, Head of Local Development at QRCS, who gave him 10 iPads, to be added to the seven computers already in use by the center’s patients. According to Ms. Al-Sulaiti, these iPads will be used by 60 in-patients per month on average. “They include educational and informative material in various fields of knowledge,” she said. “This is part of QRCS’s socio-psychological support program, which is designed to boost the morale of the patients and help them respond well to treatment”. She explained, “QRCS has established six e-libraries, with a total of 42 computers, at the Pediatric Emergency Center, Fahad Bin Jassim Kidney Center, Mental Health Service, and other HMC medical facilities”. Mr. Marhoun stated, “It is my pleasure to be here at QRCS and share this noble work, which is in the best interest of communicable disease patients. Your endless contributions are effective in helping them overcome the stress and pain that they feel all through the journey of treatment”. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to QRCS for its overall efforts and services. “This is something natural for such a leading humanitarian organization, which is a valuable asset of our beloved country. We ask Allah to give you all success in supporting the low-income patients,” he concluded.
