QRCS Distributes Food Packages to 2,400 Households in Yemen

 Qatar Red Crescent Society's (QRCS) mission in Yemen has initiated a Ramadan Iftar food aid project for the poor households and vulnerable groups in two governorates, under the annual Ramadan Campaign 1439 A.H.

The project has so far covered 2,400 households (around 16,800 people) in Taiz and Amanat Al-Asimah, each receiving 1,200 food parcels that contained diverse staples like rice, flour, sugar, vegetable oil, and beans.

In Taiz Governorate, the work has been completed to distribute 400 parcels in Dhubab/ Sabir Al-Mawadim Districts, 400 parcels in Jabal Habashy District, 300 parcels in Maqbanah District, and 100 parcels in Al-Mawasit District.

As for Amanat Al-Asimah Governorate, the work is still in progress to deliver 50 parcels at Al-Tahadi Society for People with Physical Disabilities, 50 parcels at the Home for the Blind, 100 parcels at Al-Aman Home for Blind Female Care, 200 parcels at the Home for Orphan Care and Rehabilitation, 50 parcels at Dar Al-Takaful Orphanage, 50 parcels at Al-Liwaa Female Orphanage, and 50 parcels Al-Wiaam Center for Battered Women.

Other areas of beneficiaries include As-Sabain District (200 parcels), Al-Hasbah neighborhood (150), and Shu'aub District (300).

The purpose of the project is to alleviate the suffering of underserved households, orphans, unprotected women, and people with special needs during the spiritual month of Ramadan. Its ultimate goal is to share the local society their celebrated events and promote human solidarity and social support for the needy during the holy month.

The project is part of QRCS's Ramadan Campaign for 1439 A.H., which involves QR 84 million worth of humanitarian and development projects. This includes international projects in 20 countries at a total cost of QR 62 million, as well as health, social, qualification, and development projects in Qatar at a value exceeding QR 10 million.

Also, Ramadan projects are currently undertaken in Qatar and 15 other countries, with a budget of QR 12,360,000. These include Ramadan Iftar, Eid Clothing, and Zakat-ul-Fitr.
